EMDR Therapy for Avondale, AZ
Avondale shares a border with Goodyear, so my office is a short drive from most of the city and weekly sessions are easy to keep. If you have been searching for EMDR in Avondale and finding directories and out-of-town clinics, the actual office is just west of you, off Litchfield Road near the I-10.
Read on for a plain explanation of EMDR, directions from your side of Avondale, and what we do on the weeks you cannot make the drive.
Is this you?
- Something happened and it will not stay in the past, whether it was last month or twenty years ago.
- Some places, sounds, or times of year drag you straight back into it.
- You are on edge, or you have gone numb, and neither one feels like you.
- You have tried talking it through and it did not change how the memory feels.
- You want to do this with someone close to home, not on the other side of Phoenix.
Understanding EMDR
EMDR, short for eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, is a therapy for memories that still feel like they are happening. It helps your brain process them so they settle into the past, where they belong.
We spend the first sessions on your story and on steadying skills, and we only turn toward a hard memory once those skills feel solid to you. With the office this close, that early groundwork fits easily into a weekly visit. If you are not sure EMDR is the right fit, I will tell you on the free call whether I would start with EMDR or with something else.
Why weekly works from Avondale
EMDR goes best with regular sessions, especially in the memory-work phases, and that is easier when the drive is short. I work out of the Mindful Therapy Group offices on Litchfield Road in Goodyear. From Garden Lakes and Rancho Santa Fe, head west on McDowell or Thomas Road to Litchfield Road and you are here in ten to fifteen minutes. From the neighborhoods along Van Buren and the south side of Avondale, it is closer to fifteen. From Coldwater Springs it is a short trip north on Dysart, then west on McDowell. There is free parking outside, and evening appointments mean you are not fighting the I-10.
When video makes sense anyway
Even with a short drive, some weeks are too full. Video sessions are there as a backup for a sick kid, a late meeting, or a day when leaving the house is more than you have, and the preparation work in EMDR translates well to a screen. You just need to be in Arizona while we meet.
An older city with its own history
Avondale and Goodyear share a border, but they are not the same place. Avondale has some of the oldest neighborhoods in the West Valley, around Old Town on Western Avenue, alongside newer ones like Garden Lakes. Hard things happen in both kinds of neighborhood: accidents on the I-10 and the 101, losses, things that happened in a house that is still around the corner, and old hurts that never had anywhere to go. If that is you, the office is one turn and a few traffic lights away.

Questions people ask
Is evening parking easy?
Yes. The lot right outside is free, and it is quiet in the evenings. Wait in the lobby when you arrive, and I will meet you there at your appointment time.
Do you see people from Goodyear and Avondale on the same days?
Yes. Where you live does not change anything about scheduling. I am in the office three days a week and by video four, and you take whatever slot works for you.
Will I have to talk about what happened?
No. A few words about what happened is usually enough for us to choose where to begin, and you decide how much more to say.
What does it cost, and do you take my insurance?
An EMDR session is billed the same way as regular therapy. Without insurance a session is 50–55 minutes and costs $100. I am in-network with Aetna/Banner, Cigna, Curative, and United Healthcare, and I take Cigna and United Healthcare EAP sessions.

It is not therapy and it is not an intake. You tell me a little about what is going on, I tell you honestly whether I am the right fit, and you decide from there.
